City of Shelby issued the following announcement on Jul. 31. 

 The public is hereby notified the City Council of the City of Shelby will hold its regular meeting of Monday, August 2, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Don Gibson Theatre located at 318 South Washington Street, Shelby, NC next to City Hall. The relocation of the meeting venue from City Hall Council Chamber is necessitated by ongoing mechanical repairs which cannot be completed at this time.
