CITY OF SHELBY: Tips to Reduce Air Leakage

City of Shelby issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.

Air leakage occurs when outside air enters and conditioned air leaves your house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. 

You can tighten up these areas of your home and keep cold/windy weather from entering by following the tips suggested below. In return you will save energy and money.

Tips to reduce air leakage:

· Caulk and weather-strip doors and windows that leak air

· Caulk and seal air leaks where plumbing, ducting, or electrical wiring comes through walls, floors, ceilings, and soffits over cabinets.

· Add insulation
