City of Shelby issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.

The City of Shelby will be installing a water valve in the 700 block of Branton Drive (between Lackey Street and Wesson Road) on Friday, August 27; weather permitting.  Interruptions in water service will occur between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.  Expect personnel, vehicles, and equipment along and in the roadway with lane shifts and/or lane closures during this time.   Residents are encouraged to check for possible water discoloration prior to use. If water is discolored, it can usually be remedied by running a cold water tap for 4-5 minutes or until the water clears. Postponing laundry until water is clear (usually no more than one day) is recommended.  If you have any questions, please contact Customer Services at 704-484-6866.
