County of Cleveland issued the following announcement on Apr. 14.

An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor plans to temporarily close a state highway next weekend.

On April 23, N.C. 180 is scheduled to be closed in both directions while crews remove the temporary support structures for the U.S. 74 Bypass. Work is expected to be complete by April 24.

A signed detour will be in place using Cherryville Road, East Marion Street, North Dekalb Street and East Grover Street/Fallston Road (N.C. 18) to return to North Post Road/N.C. 180.

Drivers are reminded to use additional caution and plan for delays when using detours.
