County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.

Rutherford County has a full-time Animal Control Operations Attendant position available. Reports to the Animal Control Operations Supervisor.  Position is responsible to respond to grievances and complaints regarding stray, nuisance, or rabid animals including the capture and containment of such animals. 

Position performs routine cleaning and animal care in support of the operations of the Animal Control Facility including uploading pictures of adoptable/lost pets, maintains records, reports, and paperwork, answers telephone and greets visitors.  Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs or more. 

Candidate must be able to tactfully deal with the public.  Candidate will work with inmates from the Department of Corrections on a regular basis and must be 21 years or older.  

Min req:  Graduation from high school with experience in animal control and care.  C

andidate must have or be readily available to obtain a rabies vaccination certification and a certification in animal euthanasia. Candidate must possess strong computer skills and possess a Valid NC driver’s license with a clean driving record. Candidate must be familiar with County geography. 

Wages $31,685 will increase to 32,952 in July) plus benefits.  Forty hours per week with alternating weekend hours, 8:00-5:00.
