0Comments

County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Mar. 30.

Duke Energy advises that they have an outage planned at their Avondale substation on Sunday, April 3 beginning at 11:00 PM.  The outage will impact their customers on 2 of the 3 distribution feeders and is required to replace a pole just outside the substation.  The outage is expected to last approximately 6 hours.

While some of their customers will be served from different sources during this time, there will be approximately 1,875 customers who will experience the full approximately 6-hour outage.  Many of these customers are south of the substation along Hwy 221A down to the SC line.  Also included are the areas along High Shoals Church Road, Cliffside Road, Lake Houser Road, and Island Ford Road.  Other customers north and east of the substation in the area of Ellenboro-Henrietta Road will be out the entire time as well.

Please be advised that the Cliffside Fire Department, the Cliffside Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment plant on Windsor Road, and Cliffside Elementary School will be impacted.

There are approximately 655 customers who will experience 2 brief outages while switching is performed.  The first power interruption will occur at around 11:00 pm on Sunday for approximately 30 mins to isolate and back feed these customers from another circuit. Then the second power interruption will occur at about 5:00 am on Monday to return the circuit back to normal.  These customers are generally located west of the substation in the Caroleen area and in the areas along Hwy 221A out to Kelly Road and the Byers Road area.

Duke Energy advises that the impacted customers will be notified via phone calls.  The rain date for this project is April 10 at 11:00 PM.
