FOIA Request to Town of Lawndale regarding new or amended contracts on February 1, 2026.

The Foothills Review has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Lawndale seeking access to records related to new or amended contracts. The request was made under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1, and aims to obtain these documents in an electronic format.

The specific records requested include copies of any new contracts and amendments to existing contracts that were executed, approved, or became effective during the immediately preceding calendar month. The request seeks detailed information such as the title of the contract or amendment, names of contracting parties, effective and approval dates, contract amounts or amended values, and descriptions of goods or services covered.

This request is intended for gathering information of public interest for dissemination purposes. It emphasizes that only existing records are sought and does not require the creation of new documents. In case any part of this request is denied, the Foothills Review has asked for a specific statutory basis for such denial along with all reasonably segregable portions of the records.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, Foothills Review is requesting a fee waiver based on its role in disseminating information to the public. This request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which assists media companies in investigating government actions through FOIA requests.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
