North Carolina Congresswoman Virginia Foxx said her investigation into Governor Tim Walz’s alleged involvement in COVID-era fraud indicates that Democrats prioritized political interests over taxpayer protection.

“Last year, I hit Governor Tim Walz with a subpoena and confronted him on his involvement in the largest COVID fraud scheme in the nation,” said Virginia Ann Foxx, U.S. Representative from North Carolina. “The facts are still coming out… but what’s clear is that the Democrats were far more concerned about protecting their voter base than protecting taxpayers from fraud.”

The Feeding Our Future scandal, described as the nation’s largest COVID-19 fraud scheme, involved more than $250 million in stolen federal meal funds intended for low-income children. This case has led to extensive scrutiny of oversight failures during the pandemic era.

According to a 2024 report by the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Foxx, significant lapses in state and federal monitoring allowed the Minnesota-based fraud network to thrive during the pandemic.

Federal prosecutors have charged over 70 individuals in connection with the Feeding Our Future case. They have recovered more than $50 million in assets and continue efforts to trace remaining funds diverted through fraudulent activities.

Foxx, a Republican representing North Carolina’s 5th District since 2005, chairs the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. She advocates for government accountability and fiscal responsibility.
