As the COVID-19 pandemic puts a stranglehold on the nation and current events, positive news also deserves the spotlight. And, North Carolina Speaker of the House Tim Moore (R-Kings Mountain) agrees.
Moore posted to his Facebook page on April 2, celebrating a donation in the fight against COVID-19, comparing it to other powerful stories of North Carolinians coming together.
Moore highlighted a $100,000 donation Rep. Chuck McGrady's (R-Henderson) family to the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund.
“Thank you to the McGrady family and people across our state volunteering their time and resources to help others through this time,” Moore wrote.
The fund was recently created to address the financial stress the pandemic has placed on the non-profits.
BlueRidgeNow.com reported the donation would go toward helping local nonprofits that are seeing critical-service request increases for food, shelter, rent or utility assistance.
With the McGrady gift and a $50,000 match from the Community Foundation, the county’s COVID-19 Response Fund is nearing $200,000.
