Commissioners in McDowell County have begun easing up on COVID-19 restrictions by rescinding parts of the county's state of emergency.
Lodging facility suspensions are lifted, which includes Airbnbs and the like, campgrounds, condos and timeshare units, according to the McDowell News. In addition, those traveling into the county from another state do not have to quarantine themselves for 14 days anymore, according to the McDowell News.
“Today the Board of Commissioners took action to revise the local State of Emergency after consulting with Health Director Karen Powell and Emergency Services Director William Kehler,” Chairman David Walker told the McDowell News.
While rental businesses are no longer suspended, they are still required to follow social distancing guidelines given by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the McDowell News.
“It is important for these businesses, as well as the general public, to follow CDC guidance in order to continue the fight against COVID-19,” Walker told the McDowell News.
Residents are also still strongly encouraged to practice social distancing, according to the revised order.
