Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metro surpass Memphis in 2019

The Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metro area exported $13.9 billion in 2019, more than exports from Memphis in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metro area consists of 10 counties.

The Memphis metro area comprises eight counties exporting $13.8 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
