McDowell Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jul. 31.

Davidson’s Fort Historic Park will again present a reenactment of a significant event in the history of Western North Carolina at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The Cherokee attack on Davidson’s Fort would bring about the destruction of the Indian Towns and forever change the Cherokee way of life.
From 10 am to 4 pm both days view Native American artifacts and learn their story of the period, play various children games and toys, watch Militia drill of Flintlock and Cannon, various demonstrations throughout the day to Include: “The Soldier’s kits”, tools of the period, make a Corn Husk doll, learn to use a Lucet, and much more. Working Tavern will be selling cold drinks.
Gate admission will be Age 13 and above $5.00, age 12 years and under admitted free.
