County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.
Rutherford County Solid Waste Department has a Mechanic position available. This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment. At the direction of the Solid Waste Supervisor, conducts scheduled preventive maintenance functions, tune ups, checking lights, tires, brake linings, wiper blades, horns, suspension, diagnoses, repairs, and overhauls brakes, ignition and fuel systems, air conditioning, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and differentials. Operates equipment such as lift jacks and air guns. Performs safety inspections. Prepares daily work reports and inventory control and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with completion of an apprenticeship or one to two years experience. Must possess clean NC Driver’s license and optional CDL. May be exposed to DOCC inmates during the course of the day and may need to pick up or take back to DOCC facility. Hours Mon-Fri 8:00 am -4:30 pm, Saturday rotations. Salary $34,667 (depending on experience, salary may be higher) plus benefits. Apply at Rutherford County 289 N.
