County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Rutherford County has a full time Utility Worker position available. Position reports to the Solid Waste Director. Work involves a variety of tasks, including mowing, bush hogging, weed eating, hedge trimming, spraying, transporting equipment and other landscaping tasks. Knowledge of tractors, skid steers, mowers and excavators. Main duties will be performed at the Rutherford County Airport and the Rutherford County landfill sites. Work to be performed is on a regular rotating schedule. Must have a pesticides license or willing to obtain the license within the first year. CDL license is recommended but not required. Must have a clean driving record. Knowledge of safety practices, defensive driving skills, equipment and county geography. Must have ability to get along with the general public. This position works with and oversees Department of Corrections inmates. Must obtain certification from DOCC to work with inmates. Work is performed mostly outdoors, subject to weather conditions and is classified as heavy labor. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push 100 lbs. Drug and background test required. Hours Mon thru Fri 7:00-3:30, occasional Saturday work 7:30-12:30. Annual Salary $31,685.00 with great benefit package including health insurance and retirement.
