Mansave

City of Marion Police Department issued the following announcement on June 27.

On Tuesday June 21, 2022, Chief Allen Lawrence and the Marion Police Department recognized the individual that helped Officer Breanna Toney out of her car the morning of her motor vehicle collision.

After Officer Toney’s vehicle had came to rest after being hit head on, it burst into flames.

The door to the 2021 Dodge Charger had been wedged shut due to the force from the collision and as Officer Toney struggled to free herself, the vehicle door was torn open by another motorist who stopped to help and pulled her from the burning car.

At the City Council meeting on June 21st, citizen Trevor Self was recognized and presented with a Life Saving Award for his heroic lifesaving efforts on the morning of January 31, 2022. Our Agency and City will be forever grateful for his efforts on that day.
