County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Aug. 8.
An employee in this class is responsible for planning, outreach, programming, circulation, collection development and other activities in the library with a special emphasis on adult services.
The employee researches, plans and facilitates adult programming such as speakers, crafts, demonstrations, presentations, games and reading programs. In addition, the employee participates in collection development, circulation, cataloguing work, reader’s advisory, technology assistance, and performs other activities. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Library Director, and is evaluated through conferences, reports, quality and quantity of services delivered, customer satisfaction, and daily observation. Considerable knowledge of books, materials and resources in adult services area of the library.
Knowledge of the operation practices of a public library and practices of library science. Knowledge of the use of library technology and social media. Must be a self-starter, able to complete projects independently, and have a team-oriented attitude. Position entails contact with the general public in person, by telephone, by email, and through all social media outlets. The applicant must present him or herself with courteous professionalism. The candidate must possess strong computer skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Must be able to perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Graduation from college and library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferably a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science. Salary $31,504 plus benefits.
