City of Shelby issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.
The City of Shelby Stormwater Division is still looking for volunteers to assist in cleaning out the Trash Trout placed in Hickory Creek. The device works to capture trash as it floats down the creek. It only takes about 30 minutes to clean out the Trash Trout, and can be done on your schedule. Since installation in May 2022 the device has removed approximately 75 pounds of trash from the Hickory Creek.
A typical clean-out consists of bottles, cans, styrofoam and balls.
