City of Marion issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.
During the Tuesday, October 18, City Council Meeting, Nicole Hairston from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality presented Water Plant Superintendent Ben Worley with the North Carolina Area Wide Optimization Program Award.
The award was received by the City of Marion for its superb water quality and turbidity.
Marion is one of two municipalities that have received the AWOP Award every year since the program began 21 years ago.
