On Saturday, December 16, former Putnam Science Academy standout, Darryl Simmons II’s current college team, the Gardner–Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, lost 59-80 in their NCAA D1 game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

The game took place in Greensboro, North Carolina. This was the first matchup against the Appalachian State Mountaineers this season.
