North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) appointed Rep. Destin Hall (R-Caldwell) to co-chair the House Committee on Rules, Calendar, and Operations.

The appointment places Hall alongside Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett) to chair the committee, an Aug. 3 news release posted to Moore's website said. The committee is the first to vet legislation that the House of Representatives lawmakers will consider.

“I appreciate the speaker providing this opportunity to serve North Carolinians in a new role and Chairman Lewis’ confidence in my abilities, as the legislature continues to support families at a critical time in our state’s history,” Hall said in the release on Moore's website.

This will be the fourth co-chair appointment for Hall, who was elected to the General Assembly in 2016. Hall also currently co-chairs the House Elections and Ethics Law Committee, the House Redistricting Committee and the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Matters.

“Chairman Hall quickly distinguished himself as a young House lawmaker who can address a broad range of complex issues and forge bipartisan policy solutions to matters before the legislature, and we are fortunate to add his legal acumen to this important leadership position,” Moore said about the appointment.
