COUNTY OF POLK: Tax Office Closure

County of Polk issued the following announcement on Jul. 31. 

The Polk County Tax and Tag Office will be closed to the public during the week of August 2.

Due to a positive COVID-19 test within office staff, no one will be admitted to the office until at least Monday, August 9.Tax and Tag Office employees will still be working on a daily basis, and anyone needing to conduct transactions during the week has the following options:

* There is a drop box available outside the office at 51 Walker Street in Columbus. License plates, though, cannot be left in the drop box - those have to be processed in person.

* Tax payments can be made online using a credit card via the Tax Office's website

* Staff members will be available via email

Anyone with questions can contact the Tax and Tag Office at 828-894-8500.
