County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on Jul. 31.
Rutherford County has a full-time Real Property Appraiser I position available. Reports to the Revenue Director. Position appraises residential dwellings and commercial buildings according to code, studies building plans and information pertaining to sales, prepares field cards, appraises lots in subdivisions or other land splits, determines market value, uses a variety of Tax Office records to obtain data concerning location, owner and dimensions of property, reviews appraisals and determines whether or not assessment should be modified, defends values and makes recommendations to the Board of Equalization and Review, resolves new construction and land value complaints, assists taxpayers in correcting records of real property listing, and other duties as assigned: Graduation from high school with Bachelors preferred in field of study, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of position including understanding of three approaches to value regarding cost, sales comparison, and income, Certification as a Tax Appraiser by the Ad Valorem Tax Division of the NC Department of Revenue and certification by the NC Association of Assessing required within 2 - 3 years of employment.
Knowledge of the geography of Rutherford County a must. Salary $38,149 plus benefits. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
