COUNTY OF RUTHERFORD: Administration and Education Specialist Position Available

County of Rutherford issued the following announcement on July 20.

Position Available-Rutherford County Soil and Water office has an Administration and Education Specialist position available. This job class performs a variety of office management, administrative support, and education program duties. Work includes task such as serving as initial contact for citizens and visitors, supporting assigned County boards and commissions with tasks such as agenda preparation and minutes, preparing specialized reports, maintaining a variety of departmental records, files and data, prepares purchase orders and invoice processing, completes required budget forms and travel reimbursements, assists with budget preparation, and provides other administrative assistant to the office and boards.  Must be able to work under time deadlines and produce work that is accurate and efficient. 

Work also involves planning , coordinating and presenting a variety of curriculum based education programs to build environmental awareness, and events for the schools and the public including poster and essay contests, field days, Envirothon competitions, and conservation workshops. This employee will be required to become a NC Certified Environmental Educator.

The position provides administrative and business support to the Soil and Water conservation District board, the Farmland Preservation board, the Watershed Commission, and the Soil and Water department.  

This employee must be proficient in various computer software programs including Microsoft Office, must learn and be familiar with State and local laws and ordinances as they pertain to departmental operations, and must be a self starter who can work with little supervision.. Requires tact, judgment, and organizational skills. Min req:  High school diploma supplemented by coursework in business or accounting and administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree preferred. 

Salary $32,953 with benefits.
